We are excited to start planning our classrooms for the next school year! Windsor Charter Academy teachers and administrators are responsible for placing all children within a classroom learning environment that best suits their academic, social, and behavioral needs. We strive to create and maintain learning environments that are structured, nurturing, caring, supportive, and challenging for every child!
Staff Input on Student Classroom Placement
Determining which classroom a student is placed in is complex, and many factors impact the decision-making process. Our staff takes classroom placement very seriously. We assure you that each grade-level team, with the assistance of specialists, counselors, and administration, takes significant time, effort, and care to develop class rosters that result in offering all children a quality educational experience. Our staff takes the following factors into consideration:
Information provided by the current teacher
The program needs of the child
A balanced gender ratio
A balance of academic achievement levels
Social and behavioral needs and the compatibility of students with others in the classroom
Independent work habits and leadership skills
Family Input on Student Classroom Placement
We value our partnership with families. Each year, a survey called the Learning Environment Input Form is provided to all elementary school families so they can provide input regarding their student’s needs for the next school year. On this form, we are seeking input from our families about the following factors:
Your student’s unique educational needs
Your student’s social needs, such as if they need to be separated from other students
Your family’s previous experience in this grade level, if applicable.
Teacher Requests
Please keep in mind that we are seeking input on the best learning environment for your student, not specific teacher requests. Student enrollment numbers and staffing assignments are not finalized until August. These variables can change between now and the start of the next school year, which is one of the reasons why teacher requests cannot be a determining factor. We kindly ask that teacher requests not be made through this form, email, or verbally, as they will not be taken into consideration.
Submission Deadline
Input on this form must be submitted no later than March 14th, 2025, to be considered for the upcoming school year. No late entries will be honored as the class list process begins shortly after that.
